Wedding Day Inspiration: Sara & Tony

A wedding day story from one of our client's and how they decided to commission their portrait.

Their journey begins on the island of Lanzarote, Spain. A sun soaked week long wedding attended by family and friends from all over Europe. The combined holiday and wedding would allow everyone time to relax and enjoy the island prior to the wedding day itself.

A half-day trip to the Timanfaya National Park, home to over 100 volcanoes was organised as the starting point by a local wedding planner. Guests were shown how dry twigs dropped into a ground hole caught fire immediately, whilst pouring water erupted into a mini-geyser. Other trips took in The Cave of Los Verdes and The Castillo de San Jose. The hosts never forgot this was also a holiday for everyone so plenty of beach and pool time was available too.

The wedding ceremony was held at Jameos del Agua, a volcanic cave system that Lanzarote-born artist César Manrique helped to create. It consists of an auditorium, swimming pool, gardens and restaurants, all blending into the surrounding volcanic landscape. The ceremony was held in an area overlooking the Atlantic ocean, with cocktails, champagne and canapés served in the cooler lush pool area inside the cave system.

Commissioning Their Portrait

Sara & Tony felt that the background of the oasis summed up their ceremony perfectly, but their favourite photo of themselves was a different one. After much deliberation they decided to combine the two photos to create their unique portrait. We took the best elements of both photographs, extended the blue sky and after a few emails back and forth the couple signed off on their final version of the photograph to be used by one of our artists to hand paint their portrait.
